Overview

Carbon Financing

Detrimental land-use activities account for at least 18% of global GHG emissions, yet today credits from land-use projects represent less than 1% of the project-based carbon market. Compared to the cost of other abatement options, land-use projects provide low cost solutions for carbon reductions. Furthermore, land-use credits are significantly undervalued due to limited regulatory recognition, the project developer’s lack of carbon market experience, the complexity and high cost of accurately measuring credits, and limited investment capital that understands this market.

In addition, though markets for environmental assets have been expanding at a great rate over the last few years, environmental land use projects have only just begun to receive attention The combination of the market being in an early stage of development and the systemic frictions have left viable project opportunities undeveloped thus creating unique investment opportunities in Agriculture Forest and other Land Uses (AFOLU).  The newly developing asset class of environmental benefits from AFOLU presents a new opportunity for investors to earn significant risk adjusted returns, and benefit from additional portfolio diversification presented by the new asset class. By launching a private fund focused on opportunities in global land use carbon projects, Terra Global Capital will invest in the carbon assets from global AFOLU projects and realize their unique market opportunities. Our business directly addresses these opportunities and with our team that brings together the unique and required set of skills, we are positioned to capture this potential.  Partnering with Terra Global provides that opportunity for an attractive return on investment and supports one of the most critical activities needed to improve climate change and reduce poverty.
