Overview

Carbon Measurement

Currently, the process of defining and monitoring high quality carbon assets from land-based activities is difficult and costly. Our technical team (including experts in remote sensing, geo-statistics, and geographic information systems) provides an end-to-end approach to creating and monitoring land-based carbon assets. Depending on the individual requirements of project developers, we advise on the most appropriate and cost-effective data sources and analysis techniques.

Terra Global Capital has experience with the full spectrum of remotely sensed data including optical, LIDAR, RADAR, and hyperspectral data from airborne and satellite platforms. In addition, the most advanced image analysis techniques for land cover classification and carbon stock assessment are employed. Using geo-statistics, an optimized sampling design for ground measurements is produced. This minimizes the dependency on costly and error-prone ground measurements.

This provides project developers with a more efficient way to estimate their carbon credits and monitor them on an on-going basis.

Through the integration of remote sensing, geo-statistics, and Geographic Information Systems techniques, highly accurate and more frequent measurements are produced that can be used in the global carbon markets.

Our measurement techniques often exceed the requirements of international standards by providing more frequent measurements and a higher degree of transparency and accuracy. This allows buyers of land-based carbon offsets to monitor those assets efficiently to manage contracts and delivery forecasts
