Terra Global conducts biodiversity training for Myanmar’s newest Protected Area

This January, a team from Terra Global Capital traveled to Myanmar to finalize the biodiversity survey procedures, and train local staff on observation techniques. Myanmar’s newest protected area, North Zamari, was identified to be a Key Biodiversity Area due to many irreplaceable species and the high concentration of Asian Elephants in this area of the Bago Yoma Mountains. North Zamari is protected as an Elephant Sanctuary, but the number of elephants and other species High Conservation Value are unknown.

Terra Global Completes 11th year of GHG Verification and Carbon Neutrality

To deliver on its commitment to carbon neutral operations, Terra Global completed its 11th year of measuring and verifying the greenhouse gas emissions from the company’s operations.  For the reporting year of 2016, Ruby Canyon Engineering performed the third party greenhouse gas emissions inventory verification under The Climate Registry’s reporting program.   Terra Global’s operations were made carbon neutral by the Company retiring offsets to the 2016 emissions using verified emission reductions certified under the Verified Carbon Standard.

As part of Colombia’s tax reform in 2016, the country added a new fuel tax to encourage compliance with their greenhouse gas mitigation goals. The level of the tax is based on the carbon content of fuels, and includes all petroleum products and all types of fossil gas used for energy purposes, provided that they are used for combustion (other than coal). The details of the tax are covered under Decreto 926 de 2017, which went into effect on 1 June 2017.
