Sergio Marconi brings more than a decade of experience in remote sensing, computer vision, geospatial data analytics, and forest ecology to Terra Global. At Terra Global, Sergio uses these skills to build algorithms to generate maps of land-use, detect trends of deforestation and forest degradation, and monitor the efficacy of projects. Before joining Terra Global, Sergio worked as a research associate at the University of Florida, where he worked on building software for detecting, classifying, and estimating chemical-physical properties of trees from remote sensing imagery, generating large-scale maps of species composition, health and biodiversity across terrestrial ecosystems. He received his undergraduate and master’s degree in Forestry at the University of Tuscia, and his PhD in interdisciplinary Ecology at the University of Florida.
