Investment Strategy

The Fund deploys primary investments in NbS programs in developing countries to deliver high-quality, multiple-benefit verified emission reduction and removals (VERRs). The Fund’s structure and strategy deliver the following:

Upfront investments that provide project finance capital which are repaid in VERRs
Direct investments in NbS Projects to reduce deforestation/degradation, increase tree cover and convert to low emission agriculture
Investors specify 1) reductions and/or removals and 2) cash versus VERR returns
In-house globally recognized Carbon Development Team
Continuous technical and financial assistance for investees lowers risk
Access to long-term forward purchase agreements (optional for investors)

NbS Programs seeking climate finance generally do not have a detailed business plan or all the required conditions to secure private sector climate finance.
