Today at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, the Scaling J-REDD+ Coalition was officially launched, bringing together governments, Indigenous Peoples, investors, intermediaries, standard setters, and civil society in a coordinated effort to accelerate action and finance for forests at the scale needed to meet global climate goals.
The Kulera Landscape REDD+ Program in Malawi demonstrates how community associations can support effective conservation and livelihood initiatives at scale. The Nyika-Vwaza Association (NVA) and the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve Association (NAWIRA), through partnerships with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), Terra Global, and supported by protected area managers, generate and deploy carbon revenues that support both people and forests.
As part of the validation and verification process under Verra’s Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ (JNR) and AFOLU standards, the COCOMACIA REDD+ Team led a large-scale field dissemination across 124 Afro-Colombian communities in Chocó and Antioquia for the COCOMACIA Community JREDD+ Project. The effort ensured communities were informed about the project's market standard’s technical documents, project progress, and issuance timeline.
Como parte del proceso de validación y verificación bajo los estándares de REDD+ Jurisdiccional y Anidado (JNR) y AFOLU de Verra, el Equipo REDD+ de COCOMACIA lideró una socialización de campo a gran escala en 124 comunidades afrocolombianas en los departamentos del Chocó y Antioquia para el Proyecto JREDD+ Comunitario de COCOMACIA. El esfuerzo aseguró que las comunidades estuvieran informadas sobre los documentos técnicos del estándar de mercado del proyecto, el progreso del proyecto y el cronograma de emisión.
Andean Cacao, in partnership with RRG Nature Based Solutions and Terra Global Capital, completed the validation and verification under Verra of its landmark regenerative agroforestry system with multiple species (cacao trees, shade trees, wind barriers, cover crops).
